in response to Roseb441702...   To expand my business is to create a website, advertising, communications techniques and other resources.  As for the second part of my question, I mean to buy cheaper cost homes (for instance foreclosures), rehab them and set them up as low income housing and provide assistance to those less fortunate and have lost their homes due to the economy situation.  Possibly rent or rent with option to buy.

One of the very first basic things that you should know about grant programs is that you do not automatically get one!  You have to apply for them and when your application is submitted it will be reviewed against other applications that have been received.  What this means is that you are going to have to make a good 'case" as to why your business should receive the grant.  If in some way your business can help your community grow then you should consider looking at your own state's website to see what kind of grant programs they have available for your business to apply for.  You say that you want to expand your business but you don't give specifics and the specifics will be needed when you apply because they will want to know a good reason why they should grant you the money.

As to your second question are you saying that you want grant money to buy homes at a "cheapest" cost or are you looking for ways that you can buy property at a cheaper cost - because the two are different.

in response to Roseb441702...   I have a small starter company offering customer service support to one company in particular.  I want to expand this business and also form another one to buy foreclosed homes at the cheapest rate possible, fix them up and use them as income for low income families trying to get back on their feet.  Can you offer a grant website that I can go to for capital on my current company and also start to new one which will be more of a better business to help those less fortunate?

I'm not sure but if you got a grant you have to account for every dollar that was sent to you.If you can show them where it went to they might give you a second chance.Any money from grants has to be accounted for.If you got one for a reason the all money should go to what you applied foror you may be entitled to pay it all back. So, use the grant money for what you're applying for and nothing else.

I am a person that does grant research for a living and I have to tell you that just because you can't find the information doesn't mean that it is not out there because it is.   How would you explain the number of people who have gotten grants to start their own business.

Another thing that you don't seem to know is that it is not only the government that has grant programs.  There are plenty of other previous posts here on aidpage that list many, many different programs relating to grant programs.  Just go through a few pages of the past posts and you will see some of these kinds of posts that I am talking about.

Also if you look carefully at the grant programs that our government has to offer you will see that they have grant programs that are open to all to apply for and that includes individuals as well as for-profit businesses.

To anyone looking for a handout from the government for small buisness start up or, help in housing ect.  Good luck because there are no such grants.  Grants are granted to non-profit orginazations not the average citizins.  I have looked and researched differant grants to help me purchase properties for creating affordable housing for disabled individuals.  there is no such thing because im not a non-profit orginazation.  So most of you are waisting your time here, and any other sites you go on for free or possibly pay for.  I will beleave this to be true untill i see this fact to be proven fictional.

But how can i find out what type of grant there for me to start my on business.

There are many grants for just about everything people need. However, make sure the grant site is from the USA as other sites from other countries are not accepted. Go to and see if tht helps youAlso make sure you read the terms policy before commiting to any of them. Hope you find what you are looking for.

in response to arsenicsoup...   Please check with the financial aid office of the school(s) that you want to apply for.  About 100 years ago before I even started doing grant research, I went to broadcasting school and my whole tuition was paid by a program that I found out about from the school's financial aid office!  So check the financial aid offices of the schools that you want to attend - they would know best about the kinds of grants, scholarships, etc that you would be eligible for.

There are grant programs out there for single mothers.  Check with the financial aid office of your school.  Also ask them if they are aware of any organizations that help single mothers with paying some or all of their student loans.  If the financial aid office can not help you then just go online and start looking for these programs and organizations.

If you are willing to do the work then you should be able to find the information.

Hi. My name is Kami Scheible. I am a single mother of 2 and the dad abandoned us in 2004. I am attending Modern Technology in Fountain Valley, Ca to become and Ultrasound Technician.  I did get Fafsa for 2009-2010 and 2010-2011, but still have to pay back $15,000.00. Is there any grants out there for me that I don't have to pay back. I really don't think I will be able to pay back any loans when I graduate. I will have to still take care of myself and my 2 kids.

My email is if any could please help me it would truly be appreciated.

Thank you,

If you are looking for loans as opposed to grants then the best place for you to start looking is with the Small Business Administration - SBA for short.

They have loan programs for those that want to start their own business.
